KTcos® EUK 134
KTcos® EUK 134 is a synthetic superoxide dismutase (SOD)/catalase mimic with powerful antioxidant properties, designed to combat oxidative stress and support cellular health. It is known for its ability to inhibit β-amyloid (β-amyloid protein) aggregation and related amyloid fibril formation, making it a valuable ingredient in anti-aging and neuroprotective formulations.
In vitro studies show that KTcos® EUK 134 exhibits robust superoxide dismutase and catalase-like activity, providing protection to human fibroblasts against cell toxicity induced by glucose and glucose oxidase. At a concentration of 20μM, it prevents Aβ-induced microglial cell proliferation and reduces oxidative stress by modulating the MAPK pathway. Moreover, KTcos® EUK 134 protects neuronal cells from hydrogen peroxide toxicity by reducing the expression of pro-apoptotic genes such as p53 and Bax, while simultaneously increasing the expression of anti-apoptotic Bcl-2 genes.
In vivo, KTcos® EUK 134 has demonstrated significant neuroprotective effects. In a cerebral artery occlusion model, it notably reduced brain infarction size and prevented further infarct expansion. Additionally, KTcos® EUK 134 alleviates oxidative damage caused by systemic administration of kainic acid (KA) in rats, showcasing its protective benefits in oxidative stress-related conditions.
