KTcos® Trehalose

KTcos® Trehalose, also known as α,α-trehalose, is a non-reducing disaccharide formed by the dehydration condensation between the hydroxyl group of the anomeric carbon (C1) of two molecules of D-glucose. It exists in various forms, including α,α-trehalose, α,β-trehalose, and β,β-trehalose. Naturally occurring in fungi, algae, dry yeast, and ergot, trehalose can also be synthetically produced.

This unique sugar has the ability to preserve biological activity by stabilizing cell membranes and proteins. It ensures that organisms retain moisture and protect against damage from dehydration, high osmotic pressure, or freezing.
